Keep a group of pages out of search

An exclusion keeps out every page whose web address contains a pattern you choose. Capital letters do not matter. Use it for a whole section, such as every address containing /Archive/.

Check the pattern carefully. It matches anywhere in the address. A short pattern can catch far more pages than you meant, including pages that exist nowhere else in search.

Add an exclusion

  1. Go to Crawls and find Exclusions.
  2. Type the pattern in the box. Before anything is saved, the screen shows how many of your pages in search it matches, with examples.
  3. If the matches are what you intended, click Add exclusion. From the next crawl, matching pages are no longer picked up.
  4. To also take out matching pages already in search, click Remove already-indexed matches.

Some patterns are there from set-up, marked default, such as sign-in, cart and account pages. You can remove them, but check with us first.

Undo an exclusion

Click the ✕ on the pattern to remove it. Pages it removed come back after the next overnight run. To bring one page back sooner, use Restore on the Documents screen.
