Answer Buddy > Looking after your search

Send people to a login page or another site

A promotion is a card you write yourself. It shows above the results when someone searches one of its keywords, and it can point anywhere, including pages search never holds. A member account page behind a login is the usual example. If the page is on your public website, pin it instead.

Add a promotion

  1. Go to Promotions and click Add promotion.
  2. Trigger keywords: type each word or phrase people search and press Enter after each.
  3. Starts and Ends (optional): leave empty to start now and run until you turn it off.
  4. When should this show?
    • Only when someone searches this exact phrase. The safest choice.
    • Whenever the phrase appears in their search. Reaches further. It matches whole words, so "account" never fires inside "accountant". Avoid single common words, which match many searches.
  5. Title, and a Description if you want one.
  6. CTA URL: the link for the card's button. Paste any address, or search your pages to fill it in. For a sign-in page, members are asked to sign in and then returned to it.
  7. CTA label: the button text, for example "Learn more".
  8. Image URL (optional): the web address of an image already on your site.
  9. Choose Applies to, keep Enabled ticked, and click Create promotion.

If a promotion's link breaks, it shows a red badge in the list so you can fix it.
