The wrong page comes first

A pin says: this page should come first for a particular search. Use it when the page is already on your public website and in search.

Pin a page

  1. Go to Pinned and click Pin a result. From the Worklist, use the row menu's Pin a result.
  2. In Query, type the phrase people search, for example renew membership.
  3. In Document, search for the page by part of its title or address, and choose it.
  4. Leave Applies to as all searches, or choose one.
  5. Keep Enabled ticked and click Pin result.

A pin applies whenever the phrase appears anywhere in a search. So "member offers" also catches "what are the member offers this year".

If you pin more than one page to the same phrase, drag the rows to set their order. Clear the filter box first, or dragging is switched off.

Pin or promotion?

  Pin Promotion
When it appears When the phrase appears anywhere in the search. You choose: only that exact search, or whenever the phrase appears.
What it points at A page already in search. Any web address at all.
What it looks like Your existing page, moved to the top. Its own title, description, image and link, written by you.
Turning it off Remove it, or untick Enabled. Untick Enabled, or set an end date.

An amber note on a pin

A pin stops working if its page is deleted or becomes members only. The pin then shows an amber note starting "Not showing:".

  • If the page is no longer in search, edit the pin to point at a live page, or remove it.
  • If the page is members only, click Turn this into a promotion. It opens a promotion with the details filled in. When you save it, the old pin is removed for you.
